The Gallery Luis Adelantado is situated in the heart of Valencia, Spain, a region best known for its paella. The gallery is five story building in the oldest quarter of the city surrounded by beautiful churches and squares. Buzzed in you enter what seems a small space, but as you climb the stairs the space opens into a venue for contemporary art; Luis Adelantado is part of the Valencia Association of Contemporary Art Galleries, they also have a Gallery in Miami which opened in 2005.
The call for an International exhibition of emerging artists has existed for many years. The current call for young artists is now being organised. The activity of the gallery focuses most of its attention on young artists whose worked follows the newest trends on the current art scene.
Young artist can submit their work and the most noticeable are to be exhibited in a group exhibition in the summer of 2008 at the gallery in Valencia. The call is for artist under 35 years old, from all nationalities and all disciplines proposals are accepted. This exhibitions brings the possibility for young artists to be rewarded with representation from the gallery, which is possibly the dream of any emerging artist. Most of the artists which present their work haven’t exhibited with a gallery before. The gallery uses this show to find new talent.
All of the artists represented by the gallery have had the opportunity to show their work through out different fairs nationally and international. The Gallery attends Arco (Madrid, Spain), Art Basel Miami Beach (Miami, US), Fiac (Paris), Mexico Biennale, Brazil Biennale and Frieze, as well as organizing collective and solo exhibitions at its venues in Valencia and in Miami. All the artists have the opportunity to show their work in Valencia and in Miami.
Two artists are exhibiting at the gallery in Valencia this month: Xavier Grau and Charo Pradas. Both are established artists well known in the Spanish cultural sphere. In addition to the gallery’s interest in emerging artist they also have a strong group of established artists. Who have been represented at the gallery for many years. The gallery Luis Adelantado takes great pride in nurturing and helping their artist prosper throughout their entire careers.
The gallery Luis Adelantado keeps improving and giving opportunities to new artists and most interesting is that they don’t put a limit to the artist imagination. The artist is able to create and move freely from one discipline to another. By opening a gallery in Miami the spectrum of artists is increased and allows south American artists the possibility of reaching the European market more easily. Though the gallery doesn’t limit itself to Spanish and south American artists it is a the majority of the artist it represents.
